About the Filmmakers
James Bluemel & Oliver Ralfe
James Bluemel and Oliver Ralfe are independent filmmakers and musicians from the UK who embarked on The Ballad of AJ Weberman in 2004 after hearing a crackly tape recording of a telephone conversation between Weberman and Bob Dylan. Intrigued, they headed to New York in search of Dylan's infamous fan and critic and completed the film in 2006.
Their debut feature documentary film was self-funded and edited in an attic in Oxford, UK. Inspired by the DIY tradition of indie filmmakers, they didn't hang around for grants or TV funding, but simply got on with making a film they believed in and which made them laugh.
